Generally thinking it is less desirable that way then if it gathered all its needed information at once. If you want more detailed breakdowns, you need to specifically click on particular item, at which time it then computes its' information. It only scans the topmost volume or directory. Likewise the ability to toggle the right-hand panel on or off. Listing layout could be better organized. Though mouseover does show their functions. Registers simply enough with the given key.
